Thanks in large part to center fielder Troy Speakman, the Salt Lake Bees beat the Reno Aces, 7-3. Speakman went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Kevin Plume, the winner, is now 4-3. He struck out 4 and walked 2 over 5 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. This win makes it 5 in a row for Salt Lake.

The Aces had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Bees going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old catcher John Herron came to the plate. Herron hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 fastball from Reno hurler Tyler Stegman. It was Herron's 3rd double of the year.

Said losing manager Jose Heredia: "We just didn't get it done tonight."
