In a low-scoring contest between the Salt Lake Bees and the Reno Aces, Chris Bateman, who is tied for 2nd in the PC in strikeouts with 97, proved to be the difference. The Salt Lake right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Bees win. Jimmy Powell sewed up the save, his 1st. After today's action, Salt Lake sits at 29-39; Reno slips to 29-39.

Jessie Richard hit a 2-run home run off Carlos Fargas in the bottom of the first, which put the Bees ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Richard had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Bateman.
