Reno Wins Pitchers' Duel, 2-1
|
Reno beat El Paso on the strength of starting pitcher Chad Taylor's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. David Nickerson earned the save for Reno, his 6th of the year. Reno has a record of 27-43, placing them third in the Pacific Conference North Division.
Reno took a 2-0 lead on Matt Kehr's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Kehr hit in the bottom of the seventh, left El Paso pitcher Bill Pufahl visibly frustrated.
"We were in it," said El Paso manager Matt Pace. "We just didn't score enough runs."
