The Reno Aces stymied the Sacramento River Cats, 4-2, at Aces Ballpark. Matt Mountain had a good day at the plate. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for Reno. David Nickerson, who is tied for 5th in the PC in saves with 6, was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-6. The losing pitcher was Ryan Zangaro. The Aces, at 34-39, inhabit last place in the Pacific Conference North Division.
Reno took a 2-1 lead on Tim Kase's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Kase hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Sacramento pitcher Ryan Zangaro visibly frustrated.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Kase said in reaction to the win.
