Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Iowa Cubs and Nashville Sounds.

Though he had a terrific game, Greg Molz could not prevent his team, the Nashville Sounds, from absorbing a loss. Iowa won the game, 5-3. Molz went 1-1 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Carlos Cruz was the winner. He's now 6-7. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Sanford. Dan Petti got the save, the 14th for him this season.

Iowa used the hitting of Adam McCloskey to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cubs on top, 2-0. For the game, McCloskey had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," McCloskey told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."

Iowa, at 35-42, holds down third place in the American Conference North Division.
