Grizzlies Need Extra Innings to Top Isotopes, 5-4
|
The Fresno Grizzlies did just enough to secure a victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes, 5-4, at Isotopes Park. Nobody did more than pitcher John Morseth. Gene Kaiser earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 2-6. Earning his 2nd save for Fresno was Wiley Hill.
Bret Payne, the 28-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Payne contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Fresno up, 5-4.
"They played a better game than we did," said Albuquerque skipper Caleb Eldridge.
Fresno, at 33-44, sits in third place in the Pacific Conference North Division.
