Rainiers Lose as Chihuahuas Stage Late Rally
|
The Tacoma Rainiers got a superb performance from pitcher Tony Walsh, but the El Paso Chihuahuas still won the game, 4-3. Walsh threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win belonged to Travis LeBlanc in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Harvey Reyes took the loss for Tacoma. Mark Carnathan wrapped it up, recording his 5th save.
El Paso needed the clutch hitting of Aaron Podolak to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chihuahuas on top, 4-3. For the game, Podolak had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Tacoma manager John Conway, "let me know."
El Paso, now 37-41, holds down last place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
