The Chihuahuas grabbed a win, 4-1, at Southwest University park, overcoming a fine effort from Sacramento pitcher Rod Strader. Strader went 7.2 innings and allowed 4 runs. The winner was Jason Kelly in relief. His record improves to 6-4. Rod Strader took the loss. Arturo Robles locked down his 4th save.

In the bottom of the first inning, designated hitter Amaro Alfarela had a 2-run home run for El Paso. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Chihuahuas on top, 2-0.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Alfarela said.

At 35-44, El Paso is in last place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
