Behind a solid performance from third baseman Alex Villarreal, the Salt Lake Bees defeated the Reno Aces, 5-4. Villarreal was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk for the Bees. Picking up the save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Ian Slay. The Bees saw their record improve to 44-36.

It could have been a different outcome for Salt Lake, had it not been for Troy Speakman, the 29-year old center fielder . Speakman contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Salt Lake up, 5-4.

"The most important thing is that we won," Speakman said.
