Altoona pitcher Alex Montanez had a large part in his team beating the Binghamton Mets, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. With the loss, Binghamton is 1-6.

Fred Trent had a big 2-run home run for the Curve in the bottom of the first inning. With Altoona leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Ryan Corcoran and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Curve on top, 3-0.

"Alex was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Altoona manager Gerardo Zarco.
