He went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for Scranton WB. Picking up the win was Matt Barber. He went 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 2. The win takes Scranton WB to 1-9.

Welch had a key at-bat in the bottom of the first to put Scranton WB in front, 2-0. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single off Syracuse pitcher Francisco Valdez.

Syracuse manager Phil Burkel called the blowout loss "a real stinker."
