Cubs Lose as Sky Sox Stage Late Rally

Colorado Springs pitcher John Nelson had a large part in his team beating the Iowa Cubs, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Derek Fauntleroy snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 3 innings. He's now 5-4 on the season. The last-place Sky Sox sport a record of 37-49.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Justin Stevenson? The 30-year old left fielder Stevenson stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Colorado Springs up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Stevenson. "It sure beats the alternative."
