The Syracuse Chiefs got a superb performance from pitcher Shane Phillips. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Rochester. The Red Wings won the game, 4-0. Phillips came in in relief and pitched to 22 batters. Nick Bruhl, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. The loss has the Chiefs at 7-4.

The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the fifth inning. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Syracuse trailing 2-0, Nick Bruhl needed to get a big out. On a 0-2 changeup, Josh Elkins struck out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
