The El Paso Chihuahuas took Salt Lake pitcher Chris Bateman's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Smith's Ballpark. The final score had El Paso getting past the Bees, 4-0. Bateman went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 6. The win gives El Paso a season record of 61-28.

El Paso used a well-timed hit by Davy Lewis to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Chihuahuas ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Pedal to the metal" is how El Paso manager Marvin Jimenez described his team's approach.
