Chihuahuas Squeeze By Salt Lake, 4-3
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas took Salt Lake pitcher Earl Jones's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Southwest University park. The final score had El Paso getting past the Bees, 4-3. Jones went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. The win went to Arturo Robles in relief, making him now 1-2. Richard D. Moses took the loss for Salt Lake. The Chihuahuas now have a mark of 44-46.
The decisive blow was delivered by Davy Lewis in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 27-year old left-handed pitcher Richard D. Moses to win the game for El Paso. The home crowd went nuts.
"This stadium was a-rockin'," said Lewis.
