Rich Friesz pitched well, but his team, the Fresno Grizzlies, still dropped a 4-0 decision to the El Paso Chihuahuas at Southwest University park. The victory gives the Chihuahuas a record of 53-39.

The Grizzlies had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Chihuahuas going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Jimmy Powell came to the plate. Powell hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 knuckleball from Fresno hurler Rich Friesz. It was Powell's 8th home run of the year.

In postgame remarks, Powell applauded his team's "toughness."
