The Chihuahuas grabbed a win, 5-3, at Southwest University park, overcoming a fine effort from Las Vegas pitcher Mike Lewis. Lewis went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. The winner was Ryan Milbrand, who threw 113 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. El Paso occupies third place in the Pacific Conference South Division at 46-46.

Kurt Jones had a big 3-run home run for the Chihuahuas in the bottom of the first inning. With El Paso leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Dave Boutillier, who leads the PC with a 10.6 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Chihuahuas on top, 4-0.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Jones told the El Paso Daily.
