Chihuahuas Come Back Late to Clip 51s
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Southwest University park. But former first round draft pick Justin Rowell produced just enough offense to carry the Chihuahuas past the Las Vegas 51s, 3-2. Rowell went 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles. By defeating Las Vegas, the third-place Chihuahuas improved to 45-47.
Mike Bohl was the walk-off hero for El Paso. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Chihuahuas left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Las Vegas manager Jeff Elgin. "But we decided not to take it."
