Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Bowie Baysox were eager to watch Steve Vaillancourt square off against Bill Caudell of the visiting Binghamton Mets. In the end, the Baysox won the game, 1-0, with Steve Vaillancourt leading the way. Vaillancourt, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Sergio Rosas was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

Ryan Anderson drove in one run for Bowie. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bill Caudell. It was his 1st RBI of the season.

"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Anderson.
