Tacoma laid the wood on Reno at Cheney Stadium.

The Tacoma Rainiers handed the Reno Aces a sound defeat, 16-1, at Cheney Stadium. Chris Floyd was a main contributor to the win. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for Tacoma. Jorge Santana, credited with the win, is now 4-4. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits in 9 innings.

With Tacoma leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Floyd hit a fastball from Jerry Ramos for a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Rainiers ahead, 5-0.

"Give them credit," said losing manager Jose Heredia. "They stayed relentless and kept putting it on us."

After today's action, Tacoma sits at 48-46, while Reno falls to 36-58.
