Despite a great performance by El Paso center fielder John Helgeson, the Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Chihuahuas by the score of 6-3 at Cheney Stadium. Helgeson was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alex Guzman picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-4. He struck out 5 in 5 innings. Jose Jasso nailed down his 13th save.

Matt Paris aided the Tacoma cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate.
