Chihuahuas Beat Grizzlies, 5-3
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the El Paso Chihuahuas and Fresno Grizzlies.
The El Paso Chihuahuas defeated the Fresno Grizzlies by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Scott Terwilliger. Terwilliger went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Chihuahuas on the day. Joel Mormon, who is tied for 3rd in the PC in innings pitched with 141.0, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout.
Mark Calhoun dealt the Grizzlies a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and El Paso leading 2-1, Calhoun hit a 1-0 knuckle curve for a 2-run single.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Terwilliger.
With the win, El Paso raised its record to 57-39.
