Las Vegas beat Sacramento on the strength of starting pitcher Cory Tillotson's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Bert Reed picked up the save, his 13th. The third-place 51s lifted their record to 51-45.

The River Cats had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the 51s going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old right fielder Matt McKenna came to the plate. McKenna hit a run-scoring double on a 0-2 fastball from Sacramento hurler Alejandro Lozano. It was McKenna's 18th double of the year.

"What's not to like about a win?" said McKenna.
