Sacramento center fielder Steve Brown was instrumental in helping the River Cats triumph, 8-7, over the Las Vegas 51s. Brown went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mel Arreola collected his 4th save. Sacramento, at 57-40, occupies first place in the Pacific Conference North Division.

Sacramento went up, 8-7, on Adam Ross's 18th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Ross hit in the top of the ninth, made Las Vegas pitcher Randy Owen grimace.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Brown told the Sacramento Gazette.
