Redbirds Drop 2-1 Decision to River Cats
|
David Schwaller, who is tied for 2nd in the AC with a 3.12 ERA, pitched well, but the Memphis Redbirds still fell short, losing, 2-1, to the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field. Tyler Hayes, the winner, goes to 7-2. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Mike Billingsley was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
The River Cats got a big at-bat from center fielder J.D. Wagner. For the game, Wagner was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 18th double of the season gave Sacramento a 2-1 lead.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Memphis manager Roy Ofstad, "let me know."
The River Cats upped their record to 60-39.
