Chihuahuas Best Sky Sox, 3-1
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Southwest University park. But 24-year old second baseman Ron Jakob produced just enough offense to carry the Chihuahuas past the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 3-1. Jakob went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. At 51-52, the Chihuahuas claim last place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
Grant Kern helped out the El Paso cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo home run. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch.
"The other side played a good game," said Colorado Springs manager Dustin Kent. "You tip your cap to them."
