A 3-RBI performance from first baseman Willie Verduzco, who is tied for 9th in the PC in total bases with 159, led the Sacramento River Cats to a win over the Nashville Sounds, 4-2. Adam Barton got credit for the save for Sacramento. It was his 1st of the year. The third-place Sounds dropped to 47-58.

Sacramento grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Verduzco hit a 2-run home run off Wade Ray. His 12th home run of the season put the River Cats out in front, 4-2.

"I thought we competed really well," said River Cats manager Elwiin de Lange. "I thought the energy was really good."
