River Cats Rebuff Sounds, 3-2
|
The Sacramento River Cats earned a close win over the Nashville Sounds, thanks in part to Justin Paglione. The Sacramento right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the PC in quality starts with 12, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Sacramento, at 62-44, occupies first place in the Pacific Conference North Division.
The River Cats got a big hit from designated hitter David Pena. In the bottom of the sixth, Pena smacked a bases-clearing double off Nashville pitcher Alex Cruz. It was his 29th double of the season. Suddenly, the River Cats were ahead, 3-2.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Paglione told the Sacramento Gazette.
