Bees Knock Off Sky Sox, 7-3
|
The performance of Alex Villarreal proved critical in helping Salt Lake beat Colorado Springs, 7-3. The Bees third baseman was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Darius Brown came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Ian Slay wrapped it up, recording his 13th save.
Had Villarreal not come through in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Villarreal hit a 2-run single. The Bees never looked back after taking the 5-3 lead.
"Nervous? No," said Villarreal. "It was my time to shine."
The setback makes Colorado Springs 45-62.
