The Omaha Storm Chasers had to overcome a fine effort from El Paso pitcher Brad Stoves to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Southwest University park. Stoves went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner was Aubrey Pettey, who threw 111 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits. Danny Silva earned the save, his 2nd.

Mark Thomas, the 27-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Thomas contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Omaha up, 2-0.

Thomas told a Omaha Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

Omaha now sits in second place in the American Conference North Division at 58-49.
