The El Paso Chihuahuas topped the Iowa Cubs, 3-2, in Pacific Conference action at Southwest University park. The standout performance belonged to El Paso pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Jose Perez. The Chihuahuas now own a record of 55-53.

Though he did not get the decision, Perez did all he could to keep his team close, twirling a shutout through 6.1 innings, until El Paso eventually rallied past the Cubs.

"Both teams played hard," said El Paso manager Matt Pace.
