Zephyrs Chop Down Chihuahuas, 4-3
|
The New Orleans Zephyrs topped the El Paso Chihuahuas, 4-3, in American Conference action at Zephyr Field. The standout performance belonged to New Orleans pitcher and Ventnor City, New Jersey, native Tim Basile. Ivan Bustamante picked up the save for New Orleans, his 2nd of the year. New Orleans is now 52-57.
Carlos Carballo drove in one run for New Orleans. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Carballo had a clutch at-bat. Facing El Paso hurler Jaden Dames, he got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run to give the Zephyrs a 1-0 lead.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Carballo. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
