Redbirds Walk It Off for 54th Win of Season
|
Memphis pitcher Doug Donaghey did his part in helping his team defeat the El Paso Chihuahuas, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. John Neal picked up the win in relief for Memphis, while Arturo Robles took the loss. The Redbirds sit in second place in the American Conference South Division with a record of 54-57.
Memphis got a knockout punch from Simon Borden. The pinch hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Bottom line," said El Paso skipper Matt Pace, "we didn't play well enough to win."
