Storm Chasers Solve Grizzlies, 5-3
|
The Omaha Storm Chasers picked up a win at Werner Park, downing the Fresno Grizzlies, 5-3. On the mound for Omaha was right-hander Jorge Gurule, who played a pivotal role in the win. Gurule yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 9-12. With the win, Omaha goes to 66-44, while the Grizzlies fall to 57-55.
The Grizzlies had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Storm Chasers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old left fielder Edwin Gonzalez came to the plate. Gonzalez hit a 2-run home run on a 1-2 fastball from Fresno hurler Johnny Gibson. It was Gonzalez's 3rd home run of the year.
"This team is real focused right now," said Omaha manager Lorenzo Villatoro.
