Sal Villalba pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Round Rock Express, despite Villalba's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the El Paso Chihuahuas at Dell Diamond. El Paso reliever Justin Mullings was the winner. His record is now 6-2. The losing pitcher was Sal Villalba. Earning his 13th save of the year was Mark Carnathan.

El Paso used the hitting of Miguel Mondragon to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Chihuahuas on top, 3-0. For the game, Mondragon had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" El Paso manager Matt Pace said.
