Martinez Lifts Redbirds to 6-5 Win
The Memphis Redbirds and El Paso Chihuahuas obliged fans looking for a good time.

The Memphis Redbirds beat the El Paso Chihuahuas, 6-5, in part because of second baseman Willie Martinez. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to Bill Reed in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Aaron Padron took the loss.

Benito Ovalle helped out the Memphis cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the catcher went 2-2 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Memphis manager Jon Hoffmann.

With the win, Memphis upped its record to 64-49.
