Zephyrs Come Up Short at Sacramento, 4-3
|
The Sacramento River Cats weathered a fine game by New Orleans second baseman John Casco to upend the Zephyrs, 4-3, at Raley Field. Casco hit 2 home runs. The River Cats saw their win-loss record go to 63-50. At the same time, the Zephyrs fell to 51-62.
The River Cats got an important contribution from center fielder Jason Flores, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a full count sinker into center for a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the River Cats ahead, 4-1.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Flores told the Sacramento Chronicle. "You win just by scoring more runs."
