The Memphis Redbirds topped the Reno Aces, 8-3, in American Conference action at Aces Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Memphis pitcher Cory Tillotson. In 6.2 innings, Tillotson surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. The second-place Redbirds now sit at 56-58.

Memphis won the game in part because of Dave Smeal. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Redbirds ahead, 3-1. For the game, Smeal had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Tillotson.
