Chihuahuas Deal Zephyrs 5-1 Defeat
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 27-year old catcher Grant Kern, the El Paso Chihuahuas stopped the New Orleans Zephyrs, 5-1, in 9 innings. The Chihuahuas raised their record to 58-57.
El Paso took a 5-1 lead on Kern's 12th double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Roberto Silva in the top of the sixth, propelled El Paso to the win.
Kern called the win "a pick-me-upper."
