Big Day for Newman in 5-2 Chihuahuas Win
|
Thanks in large part to center fielder Bobby Newman, the El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Reno Aces, 5-2. Newman went 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Joel Mazzaferro, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. The Chihuahuas are now 56-60.
El Paso took the lead in the top of the fifth when Newman hit a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season made the score 3-0, El Paso.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Reno manager Jose Heredia.
