Storm Chasers Lose Versus New Orleans, 7-3
|
The New Orleans Zephyrs picked up a win at Werner Park, topping the Omaha Storm Chasers, 7-3. On the mound for New Orleans was left-hander Matt Orona. He played a principal role in the triumph. At 58-59, the Zephyrs claim first place in the American Conference South Division.
Andy Jenkins had a big 2-run double for the Zephyrs in the top of the first inning. With New Orleans leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Aaron Jernigan, who is tied for 4th in the AC in complete games with 4, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Zephyrs ahead, 3-0.
Jenkins said afterward that "winning is the goal."
