Lorenzo Vazquez was a major factor in the 9-5 El Paso win over Reno. The Chihuahuas first baseman was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. El Paso pitcher Joey Averitt got the win, upping his record to 3-3. Ryan Pfaltzgraff got the loss. Sam Linder, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.

With El Paso leading 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Vazquez hit a sinker from Elard Spierenburg for a 3-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Chihuahuas ahead, 8-4.

"We played hard and won," said Vazquez. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

El Paso, at 71-47, sits in first place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
