The Sacramento River Cats beat the Fresno Grizzlies, 6-5, in 10 innings, in part because of center fielder David Carroll Jr.. He was 2 for 5 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Israel Torres came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 7-1. The loss makes Fresno 65-54.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ryan Parker? The 25-year old catcher Parker stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Sacramento up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"It was a test of wills," said Damian Rivera, the Sacramento skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
