Grizzlies Beaten, 6-4, by El Paso
|
At Chukchansi Park, the Fresno Grizzlies and El Paso Chihuahuas were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Fresno left fielder Jordan Gutierrez was sensational. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. El Paso beat the Grizzlies, 6-4. Jason Kelly, now 3-10, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings.
Alfredo Sanchez had a big 2-run double for the Chihuahuas in the top of the sixth inning. With El Paso leading 4-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Jon Mendez and swatted a double to right. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chihuahuas ahead, 6-1.
"Winning never gets old," said Sanchez.
El Paso now sits at 66-53, while Fresno falls to 59-60.
