Albuquerque and El Paso got after it at Southwest University park.

El Paso first baseman Miguel Mondragon had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-3, to Albuquerque at Southwest University park. Mondragon went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Albuquerque reliever Mike Calabro picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Brian Rhea was tagged with the loss.

Albuquerque needed the clutch hitting of Andres Fernandez to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Isotopes on top, 4-3. For the game, Fernandez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Good to pick up this win," Fernandez said.

Albuquerque, now 68-51, holds down first place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
