Isotopes Hand Chihuahuas 9-5 Loss
|
The Albuquerque Isotopes overcame a pretty good performance by El Paso third baseman Zach Means, beating the Chihuahuas, 9-5, at Southwest University park. Means was 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mike Nall, who is tied for 6th in the PC in holds with 3, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Albuquerque is now 69-52, 4 games up in the Pacific Conference South Division.
Mike Romero went 1 for 3 for Albuquerque. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Jason Kelly. It was his 19th hit of the season.
"It's not about individual awards," Romero told a Albuquerque Bulletin reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
