Rainiers Win at Home, 8-1

The Tacoma Rainiers got a stellar effort from pitcher Aaron Heddings, helping Tacoma score a win over the visiting Fresno Grizzlies, 8-1. By defeating Fresno, the first-place Rainiers improved to 67-55.
Nick Olheiser had a big bases-clearing triple for the Rainiers in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Tacoma leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a splitter from Juan Mendez, who is tied for 9th in the PC with a 3.88 ERA, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rainiers ahead, 5-1.
"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Mike Gibson.
