The Sacramento River Cats topped the Reno Aces, 2-1, in Pacific Conference action at Raley Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Sacramento pitcher Ron Courtois. The winner was Courtois. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Tyler Taylor. Jamie Estrella recorded his 9th save for Sacramento.
Jeff Stelma was 1-3 for Sacramento. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tyler Taylor. It was his 28th RBI of the season.
"Tough loss," said Reno manager Jose Heredia. "But we'll learn from it."
Sacramento is now 61-63, Reno 32-92.
