The Salt Lake Bees weathered an outstanding game by Reno shortstop Ron Ellis to topple the Aces, 5-4. Ellis went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Nick Dixon. He tossed 110 pitches over 7.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 13 hits. The last-place Bees raised their record to 60-65.

It could have been a different outcome for Salt Lake, had it not been for Clark Beach, the 26-year old left fielder . Beach contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Salt Lake up, 5-2.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Reno manager James Carter said following the tough loss.
