Redbirds Drop Close One Late

Soggy conditions did not keep Nashville and Memphis from playing their scheduled game.
Though he had a terrific game, Andrew Kuhlman could not prevent his team, the Memphis Redbirds, from absorbing a loss. Nashville won the game, 6-5. Kuhlman went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Nashville reliever Sam Roy picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0. Roger Miles was tagged with the loss.
Nashville got a clutch hit from Rick Fogel. The shortstop launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"He who laughs last laughs best," Fogel said, postgame.
The last-place Sounds improved to 42-83.
