The El Paso Chihuahuas did just enough to sneak past the Salt Lake Bees, 4-3, at Southwest University park. El Paso right fielder Andrew Beard, in particular, had a standout performance. El Paso's record now stands at 76-50, placing them first in the Pacific Conference South Division.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Beard hit a fastball from John Stark for a run-scoring double. The Chihuahuas, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Beard said.
