Tacoma Stumbles Again, Falls, 6-3, to Albuquerque
The Albuquerque Isotopes defeated the Tacoma Rainiers, 6-3. Doing his part was catcher Mike Schirmer, who went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Derek Fauntleroy, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-5. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. At 78-51, the Isotopes have a slim two-game lead in the Pacific Conference South Division.

Schirmer had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-1 cutter from Justin Goulet, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Isotopes a 6-2 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Schirmer.

"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Schirmer.
