Wade Helps Zephyrs Defeat Storm Chasers, 5-4
|
The Omaha Storm Chasers and New Orleans Zephyrs provided some drama for the home crowd.
New Orleans beat Omaha at Werner Park, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to catcher Marc Wade. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Joseph Fisher nailed down his 1st save.
Had Wade not come through in the top of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Wade hit a 2-run single. The Zephyrs took the lead, 5-3, and never looked back.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Wade. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
New Orleans, now 48-82, holds down last place in the American Conference South Division.
