Dodgers Tuck Away 7-3 Win Over Iowa
|
The Oklahoma City Dodgers picked up a win at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, downing the Iowa Cubs, 7-3. On the mound for Oklahoma City was right-hander Eric Ferguson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Ferguson, now 12-10, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. The win elevated the Dodgers to 80-54.
Oklahoma City center fielder Avery Thomas contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a splitter to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 97th hit of the season and put the Dodgers ahead, 3-1.
"Eric's fastball had teeth on it," said Oklahoma City manager Vicente Gutierrez.
